Leans

I like the Oilers +165 tonight at Arizona (they lost 7-4 #meh….but the fucking Oilers scored 4 goals!  That should win me something in principle!).

Also a weather alert: the under in tomorrow’s NE vs NYJ game at 44.5 AND 45 (it is going to be raining with high winds expected all game; also the Pats are missing 3 OL and their starting RB, and the Jets are the Jets).  A teaser with NE -10 might be in order as well.

Interesting action on the O/U line tonight:

Update Wednesday

Apologies for the late post, but you’re not missing anything.  Zero plays or potential plays today.  We were 2-0 yesterday making up for an 0-3 NFL week.  The numbers on the Buffalo game were all over the place but settled firmly into the range we were looking for.  They made things difficult blowing a 3-1 lead with 9 minutes remaining but won the shootout, as did Calgary.  As a hockey fan, the shootout and loser point are awful, but for gambling it’s great.

NHL 3-3 +1.8

NFL 4-7 -2.51

MLB Regular Season Closed at a disappointing 41-40 +3.72 Playoffs are 1-0 +1.5 :)

Sharks/Islanders should be an excellent game tomorrow.

Tuesday

I was really missing Al Michaels last night, watching the Rams futilely try and cover last night in front of a home crowd that resembled a preseason contest more than anything else.  After missing an easy touchdown and settling for a FG on the previous drive, the Rams actually had a chance to tie or win at the end, but no one including their friends and families expected them to do so.  QB Austin Davis threw a pick-6 instead, something that also happened in the other two games I wagered on this weekend.  A record if there ever was one.

I was all set to have a play on Buffalo tonight, but it doesn’t look like the numbers are going to support that as people other than Pat have realized how terrible the Hurricanes are at the moment.  Buffalo stinks too so this may be a movable force versus resistible object situation.  Buffalo +150 does go in the leaner column tonight.  One confirmed play and that’s Calgary +161 @ Nashville

UPDATE: Numbers were all over the place.  Buffalo is a go at +160

Miracle Cover Sunday

If you ever read a story with the words, “Floyd Mayweather did well,” combined with, “Vegas bookmakers lost…” it probably holds true that Lou also lost money on the same events.

Two last-second interceptions returned for touchdowns by the Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals delivered million-dollar blows to Las Vegas sports books, including a $600,000 hit from boxing champ Floyd Mayweather Jr.

I was lamenting ending up with a poor line for both the Jets and Washington, but it didn’t make a difference in the end.  I shrugged my shoulders at the Geno Smith INT in the early games, but was a bit flustered after INT #2 in the afternoon, especially as I thought Arizona had run out the clock.  I also think I saw a 23-20 final posted at some point.  I’m reminded of the day 4-5 years ago when I refused to let Sean & Pat leave the bar with the Lions down 10 (but covering) in Seattle with under a minute to play and no other games to be found because “I was sweating a Matt Stafford Pick-Six.”  He promptly threw said interception two plays later and I went home winless that day too.

And it was a miracle cover.

Four games in hockey including Avs-Bruins which has already started.  No plays out of the bunch.  Kansas City might be playable in baseball but it’s far too early to tell and will be close if it turns out to be good.  Rams are the side to be on tonight at home to San Francisco and I’ll update if I end up taking them.

UPDATE: 49ers @ Rams +4 -115 Good price and a good line, we’ll see if the result works out.

Sunday

1-1 on our hockey plays yesterday pushing us to 1-3 for the season.  Ottawa was a winner in the shootout, but Winnipeg was never in the game versus San Jose losing 3-0.  Our initial NFL experiment was a failure with both the Redskins and Jets lines moving in the opposite direction, but that’s probably just an indication I picked the wrong teams this week.  Nothing doing on either NHL game later today.

NFL Week 7

SD -7.5 at OAK

ATL -3 vs CHI

NYG vs PHI Over 50.5

MIA ML +135

Parlay (2.50 to win 50)

Saturday

Our leaner in Carolina last night was nowhere near good.  Carolina as Pat mentioned is not a very good team right now.  A couple of options tonight that I’m waffling on are Winnipeg and Ottawa at San Jose and Tampa respectively. I’ll also likely get NFL plays posted up tonight in an effort to get ahead of the ridiculous Sunday morning line movement that’s been happening the past few weeks.

UPDATE: Ottawa +160 @ Tampa

NFL for tomorrow:

Denver @ Jets +8.5 -103
Washington +3.5 -108 @ Arizona
UPDATE 2: Winnipeg +165 @ San Jose

It’s a Sporgy

I think America may run out of sportscasters at some point this weekend.

Bets here @ 17…

W Mich @ Ball St -1 -102
Toledo +3.5 -109 @ Iowa St
ECU @ USF +16.5 -104
And we’ll do this @ 24…
Hurricanes @ Islanders ML -174
The Hurricanes remind me at the moment of the Texas Rangers at the beginning of the baseball season.  Very important pieces are out injured for them right now and I am hoping it takes Vegas about a half-dozen games to correct itself.  What makes things a little difficult is that the Rangers were actually supposed to be half-way decent where everyone thought the Hurricanes were probably going to be bad even before the injuries, meaning the prices are not the greatest.  There will be more action as the weekend continues…
***UPDATE***
North Texas @ UAB Over 58 +100 @ 18
TCU @ Baylor -7 -109 @ 15

NCAA Saturday

Mizzou +3 (-105) vs Georgia at home

Texas A&M vs Ole Miss Over 66

Teaser:

Rice -3 at Army

UCLA +3 vs Oregon

Clemson -10 vs Louisville

Friday

Florida was a somewhat unlucky loser in overtime last night away to Tampa.  We’re 0-2 to start the year.  Our leans went 1-1 as Winnipeg won easily, Phoenix might be bottom 5 bad this season especially with a Western Conference schedule, and Dallas lost in a shootout.  Single game tonight, Islanders at Carolina.  The Islanders should be better this season.  The best case is they mimic Columbus’s season from last year.  Carolina will be solidly below average.  This combines to make a fantastically accurate line for tonight’s game, but with the public so heavy on New York this is a lean if not a micro-play.  Carolina +105
