Professional Hockey and Basketball

Wagers for the evening.  Basketball WTFK, hockey I will try to justify my decisions based on the twenty something minutes I read the Hockey News site today…

Magic +11 -110 @ 19

Kings +7.5 -105 @ 19
All plays @ 15

Winnipeg +131
Do I remember the name of the Jets goalie off the top of my head?  No I dont, but I wrote down that he is playing very well recently.  Montreal has not led a single game this year after the first period.
Sharks/Panthers Under 5 +118
Sharks are in the middle of a long road trip.  Combined with the Panthers having Luongo and the fact that they seem scoring challenged…
Lightning/Blackhawks Over 5.5 +102
Both teams seem to be firing offensively recently.
Stars/Coyotes Under 5.5 -119
My lone note here was Arizona – hot goalie.  Jpeg or recent form?
Ottawa +140
Most of the public money is on the Canucks for this one, and I bet a solid amount of people who did that had the thought that this was a pretty even match-up but Vancouver is at home so f@#% it.  Let’s go the other way.

Addiction

I am growing increasingly addicted to exacto bets for Premier League.  They are VERY tough to hit, as the odds attest.  I hit recently on one of these in the 2-0 Swansea/Leicester game only bc some bald guy on Leicester missed a “sitter” (as they say) in stoppage time.  These get especially fun when Tottenham plays because you often get to use unusual numbers on your keyboard.  All plays @ 3.

Arsenal 3 Burnley 1 (+959)
Chelsea 3 QPR 1 (+1048)
Everton 3 Swansea 2 (+2640)
Hull City 1 Southampton 2 (+810)
Leicester 1 WBA 1 (+583)
Stoke 2 West Ham 2 (+1481)

It’s a Sporgy

I think America may run out of sportscasters at some point this weekend.

Bets here @ 17…

W Mich @ Ball St -1 -102
Toledo +3.5 -109 @ Iowa St
ECU @ USF +16.5 -104
And we’ll do this @ 24…
Hurricanes @ Islanders ML -174
The Hurricanes remind me at the moment of the Texas Rangers at the beginning of the baseball season.  Very important pieces are out injured for them right now and I am hoping it takes Vegas about a half-dozen games to correct itself.  What makes things a little difficult is that the Rangers were actually supposed to be half-way decent where everyone thought the Hurricanes were probably going to be bad even before the injuries, meaning the prices are not the greatest.  There will be more action as the weekend continues…
***UPDATE***
North Texas @ UAB Over 58 +100 @ 18
TCU @ Baylor -7 -109 @ 15

NFL Plays

Brutal day yesterday.  Back to the drawing board this week.  Side note, the Renaissance may be upon Manchester United after a brief Dark Ages.  They are in the process of man-handling QPR and although this isn’t necessarily proof of anything, the vibes seem overly positive.  Interesting to watch moving forward.  We’ll go back to bets @ 17, I clearly don’t understand 16 plays

Falcons @ Bengals Over 48.5 -108

Cowboys @ Titans -3 -119

Texans -3 -123 @ Raiders
Possibly more to follow based on how thirsty I am over the next few hours.

NCAAF Plays

More to come!  All plays @ 16

Indiana @ Bowling Green (+7.5 -104)

UCF (+10.5 -102) @ Mizzuo
Georgia Southern @ Georgia Tech (-16.5 -102)
NC St @ USF U 52.5 -112
AFA @ Georgia St (+12 -106)

AFA @ Georgia St Under 64 -110
WKU @ Midd Tenn St Under 64 -106
***UPDATE***
Arkansas @ Texas Tech ML -104

Miss St @ South Alabama (+14 -106)

UL Lafayette (+26.5 +100) @ Ole Miss

It Begins

The vast majority of NCAAF plays I make this year are going to be made with at least casual reference to the amazing Paul Myerberg.  I mentioned him a few years ago, he has worked in the past as the College Football Guy for The New York Times, and he is now filling the same role over at USA Today.  His predictions on what will happen can vary from spot-on to laughable, but what he will normally give you is an outstanding breakdown position-by-position for each and every team.  Now, he does this once at the beginning of the season, with occasional updates on relatively important stuff.  It is incumbent on you to ensure Paul’s story line as the season plays out.  Fortunately we are still in early times so I can take Paul at his word for now.

Houston (+17 -104) @ BYU @ 17

NFL Over/Unders

That time of year again.  I am just going to list my picks, I will likely dive into rationales at another point.  Let’s see what we like…

Tampa Bay Bucs Over 7

Colts Under 9.5

Cowboys Under 8

New York Jets Over 7

Cardinals Over 7.5

RoarE

Vegas officially has a hard-on for McIlroy.  He is an actual juice-riddled coin flip today for the final round of the PGA Championship.  This would not be especially noteworthy except for the reality that there are 3 million people within 4 shots of the lead.  Mmmmm, 4 shots….This week was a “How do you take Rory” “How do you not take Rory” week which was very Tigeriscent circa 2001.  The odds by normal standards are horrifying….we should all be jumping on the No bet…except, “How do you not take Rory?”

Return of the Mack

Been out of action for a bit.  Let’s get back to business.  In the British Open I have Henrik Stenson to win in golf fantasy.  That pick is about as bold and inventive as oatmeal but for the purposes of the league I am in its just about mandatory.  In thinking outside the box stuff I have a guy named Danny Willett @ 155-1 for 2 bucks.  He finished 15th last year at The Open, has oodles of top 20s on the Euro Tour this season, and hes actually from England.  Hes at this point a poor mans version of Justin Rose, but you are getting well compensated on odds for the difference.

MLB Plays 4/3

I outdid myself yesterday in my Over bet for Braves/Brewers.  Yada, yada, yada, teams combined for 1 run.  Yada, yada, yada, there were dueling no-hitters going in the 7th.  Frankly, I’m not impressed.  The Brewers couldn’t even have only given up an unearned run?  I mean, that’s how you really stick it to an Over bettor.  Go a combined 18 half innings and score when someone drops a pop-up.  I mean, Hell, someone hit a home run in the game.  That should count as an Over right there.

Washington Nationals @ NY Mets +1.5 -124 @ 14

MTD : 0.00

***UPDATE***

Mets got smacked around in the later innings today so our early play was a loser.  Taking the under in Blue Jays/Rays.  No Myers tonight and hopefully Archer is in a positive mood off his new contract.  This bet probably hinges on Morrow not exploding on the mound.

Blue Jays / Rays Under 8 -110 @ 14

MTD : -14
