NFL Week 17
Sad day; it will be the last time this year I get to bet on shitty professional football teams.
New Orleans -4 (now at -5)
Tampa has to lose today, right? If they lose, I think they get the #1 pick. Lovie Smith not laying down here to get that pick is a fireable offense, IMO.
Green Bay -7 (now at -7.5)
Lions are missing their center Dominic Raiola today (because he’s the dirtiest player in the league and got suspended before the biggest game of the year), and I get to bet against Matthew Stafford and Jim Caldwell with Aaron Rodgers. The Lions last win in Green Bay? 1991, with Mike Tomczak at QB.
Seattle -12 and in Teaser with Under 41.5
If they win today, they get the #1 seed. We have Seattle at 13/2 to win the NFC, and if they get homefield, they’ll have a great chance to go back to the Super Bowl. The only team with any chance to beat them in that building are the Cowboys (I can’t believe I just typed that). They beat them early this year and have a huge advantage against Seattle’s weakness: they can be run on (Dallas has a great O-Line and D.Murray at RB).
Baltimore -14
Big line, but Cleveland apparently were out partying last night, thanks to our boy Johnny Manziel. Josh Gordon and Justin Gilbert are out today (hungover) and South Carolina’s Connor Shaw (who can’t pass, but can run), starts. Mike Pettine has lost his team 5 weeks too late for us Cleveland under bettors.
What if Manziel only served craft beer at the party? That would make it a little bit better, right?

Fun prop bet: So Chase Daniel is starting today for KC at home vs SD. Alex Smith hasn’t throw a touchdown to a Wide Receiver……..ALL YEAR. Do you know how hard that is? In either case, I am taking these props:
Dwayne Bowe Catches TD +250
Bowe First TD 12/1
Albert Wilson* First TD 14/1
*I have no fucking idea who this guy is.
I might also take the Titans +7.5; Indy resting everybody today.

GB -7
HOU -8
NO -5
NFL Week 17
Looks like crap for betting purposes. Titans are easily the best game on the list today and that’s not saying much. We’ll see if they get up to 9 or something before gametime. Chicago/Minnesota Over has been pushed out of range and I’m not overly excited about SD/KC over 41.
Yesterday was excellent as we went 5-0 in bowl games, 1-0 on NBA and 1-1 in hockey. NBA should have been 2-0 as I completely forgot to play Indiana who won very easily over Brooklyn. Otherwise a near perfect day. Bowl games are 10-5 +5.47 and could be even better. Just as a heads up the percentage of plays will decrease as the teams participating become more popular. I do not have anything on OSU-Alabama or Michigan St.-Baylor as examples.
Florida and Vancouver are our options in hockey today. Updates per usual in the afternoon
UPDATE: NHL Vancouver +115 @ Anaheim
Saturday
2-1 in our Boxing Day action with no close calls to speak of. Forging ahead with a full schedule today. Will likely update with hockey and basketball tonight:
Va Tech +2.5 -110
Duke +7.5 -106
South Carolina +3.5 -111 2u
Penn State +3 -105
Nebraska +7 +100
NHL: Detroit -129 @ Ottawa
Dallas is an option for those feeling adventurous but barring some significant line move I will be passing.
UPDATE: NBA Atlanta -4 @ Milwaukee
I attended Milwaukee @ Atlanta last night where the Hawks were favored by 8 or 9 and promptly lost by 30. Kyle Korver was reduced to shooting layups from 2 feet during timeouts to prove to himself he was able to get the orange ball through the orange rim. Playing Atlanta tonight because it would be very NBA-like for them to cover last night’s spread tonight instead.
UPDATE 2: San Jose +130 for 1/2u
Boxing Day
No soccer unfortunately, just some more Bowl action. Early posts today so I don’t miss any. 3-4 -0.31 so far, though we would be in the plus side if the kickoff times were standardized.
The Miracle (Cover) of Christmas
The most craziest miracle cover I maybe have ever seen just happened in the game Lou bet on, Central Michigan +3.5 vs Western Kentucky.
WKU was up 49-14 after 3 periods, and blew that lead via 5 straight TDs in the 4th quarter….including this last one which might be the play of the century:
CMU goes for 2 at the end for the win, and misses….which is a miracle cover in itself due to the fact that any college line from 4 on up is in jeopardy with their stupid “everybody gets a shot” overtime rules.
Western Kentucky ticket holders congrats: you are part of the #1 bad beat of 2014

And it was….a miracle cover. Somewhere, Romeo Crennel is smiling.
As for me, I start my football betting tonight with Bovada’s “Bowlopoly”, where one can bet and accrue prizes and bonuses off of the property pieces.
The game tonight is the Hawaii Bowl in Honolulu, and I’ll take Fresno St +2 as well as put them in a teaser with the Over at 60.
The video above has me jacked up for the upcoming gambling season with bowl games as well as the NFL playoffs. I might try to get Lou and I to do a podcast preview for ya’ll when the wild card matchups are announced.
Merry Christmas
All winners yesterday, including the game I didn’t realize kicked off at 6pm where I would have had Marshall who won easily. Navy covered and Carolina won in a shootout. I barely got Central Michigan +3.5 posted on Twitter, much less here and they have responded by stinking things up and currently trail 28-7. NHL has the holidays off so we’ll resume here on Boxing Day in all likelihood.
Tuesday
0-2 yesterday as both our plays lost by alot alot. I would have played Florida who won in a shootout but was out Christmas shopping. Only one game on our list today and it’s a go: Carolina +132 @ New Jersey
One bowl game since I missed the early one which had the temerity to kickoff at 6:00pm: Navy +3.5 -112
Monday
Not the best day yesterday as Chicago covered but failed to win outright or hit the over due to some dreadful red zone offense. Tampa was also a loser for everything except a top draft choice but I am pretty sure we were on the “correct” side there. Props to Sean for a near-perfect day, pushing on Cleveland/Carolina and winning everything else. No NFL action tonight but one NHL play so far:
Nashville @ Columbus +135
Florida and Arizona are on the shortlist for later and I’ll likely end up with a decision very close to game time.
In amateur football, we had some late action I didn’t even have time to post because someone deemed it a good idea to have a bowl game kickoff at 2pm on a non-holiday Monday. BYU lost in double overtime after setting a chance to drive for a late game winning field goal on fire when their coach used two timeouts to defend an extra point. Memphis’s kicker then hit a 55-yard field goal to send the game to overtime number two after which the BYU players realizing they could not beat their coach with a gatorade jug started a riot instead.
Some more mediocre numbers for you on the season:
NFL: 16-15 +4.35
NHL: 29-34 +2.56 (not including tonight’s action)
NBA: 9-10-2 -1.56
Bowl Season: 1-4 -2.12
UPDATE: Columbus is not doing terribly well currently down 2-0. Arizona +170 @ Vancouver in the late game
Sunday
Our NHL streak continued yesterday with a 2-1 evening and we’re now up to 10 in a row ending in a shootout loss or win. Bowl games were 1-3 and the late NBA game pushed/lost. I am slow getting together here with NFL this morning. Lots of potential plays coming off the board and I missed out on Washington yesterday by forgetting which day the game was being played. One confirmed play so far Detroit/Chicago OVER 43.5
UPDATE: Sticking with the Bears along with no one in America. Bears +10 -115, +375 to win outright
Let’s add Tampa +11.5 -105
UPDATE 2: Not the best afternoon. Some NBA because I’m an idiot: Detroit +2.5, +115 @ Brooklyn
