Saturday

Fun stuff today.  Taking a 5 fighter parlay on all of the Swedish fighters on today’s Stockholm card at +875.

Orr NHL93

I also like the under in the Nebraska v MSU under at 60.5 (now at 55!) as it will be raining (which is usually trouble for running teams as lineman can’t setup their blocks.  Both defenses are pretty good, too).

Saturday Plays

NCAA Teaser:

Texas at Kansas 42

Notre Dame -10 vs Syracuse (Meadowlands)

UFC:

Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier Under Rounds 1.5 @ +120

Late Night Picks

Mark Hunt vs Roy Nelson Fight does not complete two rounds -110 and one round +185

NCAA Saturday:

SMU v Texas A&M Over 59

It Begins

The vast majority of NCAAF plays I make this year are going to be made with at least casual reference to the amazing Paul Myerberg.  I mentioned him a few years ago, he has worked in the past as the College Football Guy for The New York Times, and he is now filling the same role over at USA Today.  His predictions on what will happen can vary from spot-on to laughable, but what he will normally give you is an outstanding breakdown position-by-position for each and every team.  Now, he does this once at the beginning of the season, with occasional updates on relatively important stuff.  It is incumbent on you to ensure Paul’s story line as the season plays out.  Fortunately we are still in early times so I can take Paul at his word for now.

Houston (+17 -104) @ BYU @ 17

NCAA today

Oregon v MSU over 57.5

Notre Dame -3

Sugar Bowl and Recon

I like Oklahoma’s toughness and they showed some meddle winning in the last seconds at Oklahoma St to win the Big8-12-whateveritis.  Alabama is also coming off that doozer of a loss to Auburn, so I expect a high scoring, fun, competitive game in New Orleans.  Plus, since this game basically means nothing, the players were probably drinking in New Orleans the night before.  I like OU at +17 and putting them in a teaser with the Over (53).

Early NFL Playoff recon:

SF -3 was EVEN on Monday…..it’s now at +105 and I’ll now have to “jump in it”.  More excited about this now since the weather might be at -10 on Saturday night, and that favors the better running team, which are the 49ers.   The under at 47 looks toasty, too.  I just don’t think the Packers have figured out the run defense to stop the zone-read attack of Kaepernick.  One also must wonder, despite his heroic performance in Chicago last Sunday (and covered the -3!), how Rodgers’ shoulder will hold up in the cold vs a physical defense.

Also will tease NO+3 with the Under at 60.  Passing spread teams in winter weather, rookie QB in playoff football, and the fact NO is always a tough “out”.  Foles might be gearing up for a Super Bowl run, though*

*I just wanted to type that up for the laugh :)

Happy New Year

Iowa +7.5

NCAA Bowl Week

I’ll keep this as a rolling stream.  Im essentially going to be a ramblin wreck for the next week…

Texas Tech +16.5 -106 2 @ 20

Saturday

1-1 day yesterday as Brooklyn was an easy loser and the college over an easy winner.  Lots of possibles at the moment, denoting them below with any actual plays for my own reference:

NHL Dallas, NBA New Orleans, College Hoops Texas & Notre Dame

New Mexico Bowl: Colorado St. +4.5

UPDATE: New Orleans +8, Notre Dame +6 @ MSG

Football: UL Lafayette +2.5

Quick Hits

UFC:

Joseph Benavidez +110 (He’s a Duane “Bang” Ludwig fighter, we’ve had a 75% win rate betting on this guy”s fighters.  Also, this is the second time he is facing Flyweight Champ Demarius “Mighty Mouse” Johnson, who has defended his title 4x’s in a row……and beat Benevidez 49-48 in a split decision in 2012.  It lines up for us well as the “3rd rematch” fix theory is also in play).
Over 1.5 Rounds Sam Stout/Cody McKenzie Fight (Neither gets knocked out much)
Joe “J-Lau” Lauzon by submission (always take a flyer on this prop…..Lauzon, a MMA fighter out of Brockton, is a submission guru, holding the UFC record for most submissions of the night….50K a piece…..at 4).
NCAA:
Teaser: Army +13.5 and Under 52 (Let’s go Army!  They have lost the last 8 games to Navy, but have narrowed the margin each year, covering the last 2 years.  Plus the run the ball 70% of the time….if not more.  On a blustery day, they should keep it close and low).
