Soccer and UFC Saturday

Here’s are my plays for today:

UFC London:

Danny “The Cheesecake Assassin” Mitchell +190 (I have no idea who this guy is, but great nickname!)

Omari Akhmedow +265 (This guy I do know, another Dagestan Sambo killer.  He shouldn’t be this big of a dog)

Soccer:

Tottenham +1 (even) and Draw +330

Also, to answer Lou’s question why things maybe falling apart in Vancouver, this episode from John Tortarella in Calgary a few months back may explain:

Friday

Our play on Vancouver yesterday…was not close.  The Canucks may be the most dysfunctional team in the league and have moved into ‘Do Not Bet Until Further Notice’ status for me.  I think they’ve now lost 11 of 12 obviously dating back to before the Olympic break.  I didn’t take into account any streaks that were pre-Olympics, but it’s clear that nearly everyone involved has stopped giving a crap.  From Canucks Army:

It’s not that I find curling more exciting than hockey, but I don’t think I’ve watched a full Vancouver Canucks game beginning-to-end since their game against Toronto right before the Olympic break, and before then, well, yeah.

Nothing doing in NHL tonight.  NBA has Cleveland and Milwaukee on the watch list but nothing definite as yet.

Thursday

Keeping up with the regular plays here after the NHL trade deadline.  There’s no real tanking issue in the NHL, mainly because the draft is such a complete and total crapshoot.  Nearly all of the first round are awkward high school juniors which makes for strangely decent television.  Maybe we will liveblog it this year or attend in person…

Play today is Vancouver who sent Roberto Luongo back to Florida at Dallas for Mike Modano’s jersey retirement.  Dallas finds ways to lose lots of winnable games and hopefully this is another one as this is a lost season for Vancouver who has lost three in a row. Canucks +126.  Columbus or the Islanders for anyone feeling particularly frisky though neither is really close to being a play for me.

Wednesday

Colorado was a winner yesterday 4-2.  Nothing doing today in either NHL or NBA.  Not that there have been many NBA plays in general as I am using a pretty strict system.  We’ve had 42 plays in NHL this season good for a 23-19 record and a +12.25.

Tuesday

Columbus was a 2-1 winner last night, hope some of you were following along.  One play again tonight, Colorado +145 @ Chicago.

Monday

1-1 yesterday as Philadelphia was a comeback winner in OT 5-4 but Phoenix lost, unaware the game lasts for 60 minutes and not 40.

Columbus is the play tonight +105 @ Toronto.  Calgary +160 for anyone feeling adventurous.

Streaking

In the wrong direction.  Should have played Capitals yesterday.  Another effort today…Flyers +115 @ Washington.

UPDATE: Flyers were a winner this afternoon in OT.  1/2 unit play on Phoenix +122 tonight in a very rare home game versus St. Louis.  First start for Ryan Miller in goal for the Blues and some 90% of the money is on St. Louis.  This one is free on real TV with the Center Ice Preview.

Saturday

Bad beats in two different sports yesterday and the only logical response is to double down.  Florida +160 @ Columbus.  Capitals are also a good option at Boston for those looking for more action.

NBA

New Orleans +8 @ Phoenix.  Lots of coulda shoulda woulda NHL games from the last couple of days that I was too lazy to post but would have been winners.  Turns out back-to-backs are a good thing when no one has played for three weeks.

UPDATE: Found us a hockey game for tonight…St. Louis +110 @ Vancouver Anaheim.  Pretty rare when we get to wager on an actual good team.

Medal Friday

Sweden/Finland semifinal gets going in about an hour or so and we missed an even bigger betting spot on Finland/Russia.  We haven’t been playing many sides in the tournament however because these totals have been improbably low.  Likely the last play today, Sweden/Finland OVER 4.5 +119.  Big day again in Canada, the women took both Curling and Hockey gold medals in straightforward & dramatic fashion respectively yesterday, and today it’s Men’s curling gold at 830 and USA/Canada in the other hockey semi at noon.  I’m trying to find a bar that is showing curling live this morning.
