Friday
No plays yesterday but our lean on the Islanders was good as they won in a shootout 4-3. Two more leans today both involving Alberta:
Calgary +150 @ Columbus and Vancouver @ Edmonton +130. Hopefully we’ll get an actual play again soon.
Thursday
Nothing much doing tonight. New Jersey was the best chance of a play tonight but they are not close anymore. Lean on the official team of MC this season Islanders +106
Leans
I like the Oilers +165 tonight at Arizona (they lost 7-4 #meh….but the fucking Oilers scored 4 goals! That should win me something in principle!).
Also a weather alert: the under in tomorrow’s NE vs NYJ game at 44.5 AND 45 (it is going to be raining with high winds expected all game; also the Pats are missing 3 OL and their starting RB, and the Jets are the Jets). A teaser with NE -10 might be in order as well.
Interesting action on the O/U line tonight:
Despite 63% of bettors taking the over, the #Jets #Patriots total has dropped from 47 to 44.http://t.co/Ba8mkeUapZ

Tuesday
I was really missing Al Michaels last night, watching the Rams futilely try and cover last night in front of a home crowd that resembled a preseason contest more than anything else. After missing an easy touchdown and settling for a FG on the previous drive, the Rams actually had a chance to tie or win at the end, but no one including their friends and families expected them to do so. QB Austin Davis threw a pick-6 instead, something that also happened in the other two games I wagered on this weekend. A record if there ever was one.
I was all set to have a play on Buffalo tonight, but it doesn’t look like the numbers are going to support that as people other than Pat have realized how terrible the Hurricanes are at the moment. Buffalo stinks too so this may be a movable force versus resistible object situation. Buffalo +150 does go in the leaner column tonight. One confirmed play and that’s Calgary +161 @ Nashville
UPDATE: Numbers were all over the place. Buffalo is a go at +160
Saturday
Our leaner in Carolina last night was nowhere near good. Carolina as Pat mentioned is not a very good team right now. A couple of options tonight that I’m waffling on are Winnipeg and Ottawa at San Jose and Tampa respectively. I’ll also likely get NFL plays posted up tonight in an effort to get ahead of the ridiculous Sunday morning line movement that’s been happening the past few weeks.
UPDATE: Ottawa +160 @ Tampa
NFL for tomorrow:
Friday
Florida was a somewhat unlucky loser in overtime last night away to Tampa. We’re 0-2 to start the year. Our leans went 1-1 as Winnipeg won easily, Phoenix might be bottom 5 bad this season especially with a Western Conference schedule, and Dallas lost in a shootout. Single game tonight, Islanders at Carolina. The Islanders should be better this season. The best case is they mimic Columbus’s season from last year. Carolina will be solidly below average. This combines to make a fantastically accurate line for tonight’s game, but with the public so heavy on New York this is a lean if not a micro-play. Carolina +105
Thursday Night Degeneracy
Continuing with the “favorite on TNF” theme, taking Colts -3 (settled at -3.5, started at -2.5) +105. Luck is 12-2 in career vs division opponents.
Also taking first NHL play of the year with Winnipeg +120 vs the Arizona Coyotes (wha?). The only time you’ll hear me say: Let’s go Jets!
Thursday (More Hockey)
Still no other sports! I think everyone else in the NHL plays tonight with a handful of teams on back-to-backs. Good Game Flyers last night who lost 2-1 but were a minute away from forcing overtime. For anyone new here, we’re trying to identify coinflip games at plus odds (or better) as a hockey strategy. 0-1 -1.00 for the season.
I am going to try and capture leans this season just for reference. We have one of those tonight, Winnipeg +125 @ Phoenix. One actual play and that’s Florida +170 @ Tampa
EDIT: I forgot there is an NFL game tonight. Also one other leaner, Dallas +104
Opening Night (Hockey)
There are some advantages of being he least popular major sport. People treat you like the cute youngest sibling and generally ignore you and leave you to your own devices right up until a major event that causes some people to temporarily take notice before letting you retreat back into relative anonymity. For degens, this means the lines don’t move very much unlike some larger sports (NFL, cough). With no baseball tonight, American sports fans will be forced to watch hockey to find a sport who’s games count this evening. We’ll start with the win totals:
