Thursday
Nothing doing this evening in either MLB or NFL preseason. I may get a play or two down on Premier League which kicks off way too soon on Saturday. Minuscule profit yesterday as the Cubs were 4-2 winners but Texas got smushed 10-1. Miles Mikolas is not an MLB caliber starting pitcher. 36-32 +6.42 for the season.
Wednesday
Another winner yesterday as Jared Cosart had what was probably his best start as a pro and the Cardinals continued to look punchless versus RHPs. With this recent positive variance, we’re actually at a high point for the season which is both good and sad. Anyone who hopped in on or around July 30th would be doing just as well as anyone who started in April. Arbitrary endpoints and all that. KC, NYM and TEX are on the leaner list. Mets will likely be a pass but the others will need a check in 90 minutes or so. One confirmed play:
Brewers (Lohse) @ Cubs (Wada) +112
UPDATE: I don’t want to be checking this later… Tampa (Archer) @ Texas (Mikolas) +127
Tuesday
One definite play tonight:
Cardinals (Wainwright) @ Fish (Cosart) +125
Royals may be a go in a bit but I am going to wait until close to first pitch.
Monday
Zero plays Sunday and none again today despite lots of games looking promising this afternoon. Pirates, Marlins and Rangers are all leans and passes for tonight.
Saturday
Not much happening last night or in the day games today. One play tonight: Dodgers (Greinke) @ Brewers (Fiers) +122
Pre-season Betting
I’m going to run out the 2’s and 3’s out there for the entire game tonight like the Pats did yesterday (today is my mom’s birthday, and when I saw her the first thing she said about the game was, “Who is that QB? Mallett? They said he was good? He played like shit”).
Plan to make small plays with Carolina Pick at home vs Buffalo, and put the Panthers in a teaser with Lou’s over suggestion, JAX v TB at 35.5. I also like Mike Leake at home tonight (3-0, 1.93 era at home) vs the Marlins at -132.
And now here’s a girl from the LFL drinking a beer after scoring a TD:

Friday
The Yankees did in fact win yesterday 1-0, only they beat the Tigers and not me. Who knew my predictive powers were so amazing? Not much doing today, with the Cubs, Royals and Blue Jays all leaners but none coming close to being an actual play. I am going to gambool some more on preseason NFL totals and take the Jacksonville/Tampa Over of 35.5. More tomorrow.
Yankees 1, Lou 0
Yankees were actually a 5-1 winner last night over Detroit and I am 0-2 this week using things like knowledge and logic to try and sort out plays instead of regular numbers. Back to the usual method for today’s day game:
Detroit (Porcello) @ Yankees (Greene) -110
Likely no more plays today but I will have one more look this afternoon. Red Sox are an okay option for road game sadists at Cardinals and Wainwright.
Wednesday
Two losers yesterday as the movable object that is the Reds offense smushed the resistable force that is Josh Tomlin’s pitching. Only one option tonight and it’s the Yankees again, and while I got in trouble defying my system last night with the Reds, I’m going to risk doing so again tonight and pass on New York who is starting Chris Capuano. I just can’t pull the trigger on this one and will live with the consequences. It’s a leaner and not a play. Good luck to everyone
Tuesday
5 wins in a row after the Yankees held on for a 2-1 win last night. Taking New York again tonight with Kuroda versus Price at +107. One additional play is on Cleveland at home to the Reds, Cueto v. Tomlin there. This would normally be a leaner with the interleague matchup and low total, but the Reds lineup stinks. -112 on Cleveland.
